W. A. F.

I was reading an article in the newspaper regarding the growing trend among couples to buy electronics and such articles only if both the parties are in concurrence. This, is now being called the WAF or the Wife Acceptance Factor.

I have faced this almost everytime that I have tried to buy something electronic for the house. So, I usually get to decide the item and my wife gets to decide the colour that best goes with the walls or the curtains or some other thing in the house that has nothing to do with the electronics in question. So I bought a couple of things behind her back when she was out out town.

So sue me. I happen to like nice shiny tower speakers on the Home Theatre and don’t really care about hidden speakers. I don’t want the electronic item to GO with anything. I want it to stand out and be noticed. That’s how I am.

But, in some cases, you should listen to your wife so that you don’t regret having bought something that doesn’t GO with the general idea of a house. After all, its gonna be your home not a discotheque or a workshop or some other arbit thing like that.

There is a problem here! Most things like televisions, home theatre systems and other consumer durables are designed by men for men, and are meant to be used by men. At least in India you can’t readily find pink or green speakers or affordable wireless and hidden and cool sounding sound systems.

So what do you do? Well you do the best you can. And if theres something that you really want, you go out and get it, cause your wife would be doing that too.
