If you are the kind of person who would go the extra distance to try a new place to eat and drink, then you would be like me. I drove 25 kilometres from Andheri to Cuffe Parade to eat and drink at Moshe’s. This was a place steeped in mystery for me. I worked in that area for over 4 years and used to frequently pass this place hidden behind shrubs and concealed in shadow always wondering what lay behind that cover and what people went in their to do.
Then after 5 years of being in Mumbai, I finally went there to meet with a friend. The experience was favourable to say the least. I say “the least” because it was actually really good. I arrived there with my wife and friends after a 2 hour drive in Mumbai traffic. I felt so much like having a cold beer and a nice well done steak. But alas, there was no beer to be had. There was only wine. I like my beer you see. I generally have beer no matter how classy the occasion. I don’t really care what everyone else is having as long as I can get my beer.
So we ended up ordering two bottles of wine cause you need to drink atleast that much to feel anything and we ordered a lot of food. I ordered the steak. It was really good. I have not had a better steak in India. This might mainly be due to the fact that it is virtually impossible to get good beef in most places in the country and even if you do have good beef, it is difficult to have a good beer cook. Moshe’s had both and they served up a potion of it that satisfied not just my stomach but also my appetite.
I definately recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to try some really nice food and wine. But please be informed, this treat will cost you. For the 4 of us the bill was a hefty 7500 bucks. That’s right! Thats mainly because of the 2 wine bottles of 2000 bucks each. But the food is definately worth it.
