Review: Piano Bar

Went to this new place in Mumbai called Piano Bar. If I had to sum it up in one sentence I would say that “the place is so small that a single sumo wrestler would fill it up”.

Of course I am exagerating, but not the fact that the place is small. It is just one rectangular room of about 40 ft by 20 ft and some area for the loo. The DJ was playing really old style dance music that failed to inspire even the most inebriated patrons. The drinks were, however, cheaper than the usual discotheque. A pint of beer cost me Rs. 100 whereas most other places its about 180 to 250 for the same. The harder drinks were more at par with industry standards, so about Rs. 400 for a large peg.

Also, something that I find really irritating is that there was very little sitting room. I find that extremely, truly, undeniably stupid. After a few beers I like to sit back and relax and just move my head to the music while the rest of my body floats in beer bliss. No such luck at the Piano Bar in Mumbai.

And nothing about the fact that there are abslutely no pianos there?!! I was disappointed with that. One would think Piano bar would be a nice cultured place where someone played paino… no such luck. Just another run of the mill lounge bars :(
