I recently read in the newspapers that Mumbai is going to get a brand new monument/tourist attraction. The Eye. Mumbai Eye. LIke… London Eye. That’s right. Mumbai’s Bandstand area is going to be the location of the Mumbai Eye overlooking the Arabian Sea on one side and Bandra West on the other. You can also look into homes of celebrities and get an eagles eye view of the slums.
The Eye will occupy a total area of 14000 sq.ft and will be about 650 feet high. I like it. Though it would have been better if the Eye had been placed in a more central location so that you can see the city from 650 feet up. The BMC (Municipal Corporation) has already got some of the clearances for this project along with another ambitios project, The Mumbai Wax Museum.
These 2 projects will bring in much needed money into the cash starved coffers of the BMC and make certain that more and more civil servants are able to parttake of the under the table moneys that will definately come into play as both the projects will be on BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) basis.
In any case, at least I will have a few places to spend money at that are actual tourist destinations since I am not a big fan of temples and places of worship and really don’t enjoy temple hopping as a viable tourist activity. Till now, thats all that I could have done in this city when it came to being touristy. Since, In my job as a sales person, I have seen most of the other places to see in the city.
So this is good news.
