This is an extremely biased review of the city based on the 2 days that I was there. So in the event that you happen to love the city for a reason unfathomable to me, you can save your energy and not hit out against this review because… I just don’t care for your point of view.
Well, actually this is not a review of the city, this is a review of the pedestrians and two-wheeler riders that I have been exposed to. That’s more to the point.
So what sets these guys apart from pedestrians and two-wheeler riders in other cities?
It’s their complete lack of understanding of the fact that, a 4 wheeler beats the shit out of pedestrians and two-wheelers. This dawned on me when at around 9:30 PM in the night, a two-wheeler came onto our side of the road with no lights on and proceeded to scare the shit out of me while my brother drove the car.
Then there were numerous opportunities for us to hurl expletives at pedestrians crossing the road from odd places without even looking at the traffic. This kind of behaviour then transfers to their riding and their driving. All in all my experience on Hyderabad roads was not a very pleasant one.
As my brother said, these guys got up one day and found a road running through their village and said, lets get on it. To hell with road rules, common sense and all that jazz. The road passes through my village and is therefore, by extension, mine. So all else can go screw themselves.
