Toronto Miniaturized

cliftonthumbAfter my first post on getting the miniaturization effect with faked tilt shifting using the GIMP and tiltshiftmaker.com, I decided to put up some more shots where the effect would be noticeable. All of these images that I have put up here are from my recent trip to Canada where I was able to take lots of pictures from high places like the C N Tower and a big Ferris Wheel at Clifton Hill at Niagara Falls.

My first post about this has also been updated with new “understanding”. I had earlier written that tilt shifting is primarily used for miniaturization, which is actually untrue. In actuality miniaturization is just one of the applications of tilt shifting and the main use is to get large scale images into a smaller frame without distortion or varying levels of focus in the different areas of the image.

Tilt shift lenses are pretty expensive, even on ebay. Besides on ebay India they don’t even have them. So GIMP and other such programs have various filters that can be used to give the miniaturization effect. So the gallery below has the second and last part of my images tilt shifted.

  2. Hey,

I have a question for the webmaster/admin here at hitchedhiker.com.

Can I use part of the information from your post above if I provide a backlink back to your site?

    Thanks,

    John
