Finding a place near Mumbai where you can go and relax is not that easy. You not only have to decide and plan on the schedule, but you also have to decide whether you want to do the usual things or you want to do something different. We decided to do something different. So instead of going to the usual beach/hill/jungle, we went to an organic farm to live the simple life and be disconnected from it all.

The Bicycle Project
The CIA World Factbook is a treasure trove of information. According to this Factbook, the literacy rate for India is 61% as a whole. 73.4% for males while its just 47.8% for females. They define literacy as people over 15 years of age should be able to read and write.
Exposure Bracketing for Tricky Lighting
Many times you may have had to take pictures in places where you were not sure whether the light conditions are good or bad for the shot. In these conditions a camera’s light meter automatically determines the exposure values (Aperture/Shutter) for the shot. In challenging lighting conditions this auto determination may not get you the effect that you desired.
Toronto Miniaturized
After my first post on getting the miniaturization effect with faked tilt shifting using the GIMP and tiltshiftmaker.com, I decided to put up some more shots where the effect would be noticeable. All of these images that I have put up here are from my recent trip to Canada where I was able to take lots of pictures from high places like the C N Tower and a big Ferris Wheel at Clifton Hill at Niagara Falls.
Tilt Shift Photography
Tilt Shift Photography is the technique of using either your camera with a special tilting lens or a software to make your pictures look as if they are miniatures. By altering the photograph in such a way as if you have used a macro lens with a very shallow depth of field. In this wasy you can make a life size image appear as it it is a miniature.
The Bird Menace in Urban Mumbai
There are 2 types of birds that one can find in the area immediately surrounding my building. The Crows and the Pigeons. Since we have a lot of trees in our residential complex, we have a lot of these birds. Which is a really nice thing, because you get the feel that you are living closer to nature and all. For some reason however, these birds refuse to inhabit the perfectly usable trees that are ever present in the complex.
Kala Ghoda Rides Again
The Kala Ghoda festival of Mumbai started on the 7th of February 2009 and will be on till the 15th of February 2009. The festival is organized by the Kala Ghoda Association who have been hosting this festival since 1999. Every year the Association works to bring people to this area to bring attention to the Kala Ghoda area with its concentration of museums, art galleries, educational institutions, boutiques and restaurant, and some of the finest of heritage buildings in the city.
Mumbai Airport Night Shots
A few days ago I went up to the roof of my building and set up my camera for some nice night shots of planes landing. I live in the vicinity of the Mumbai International Airport and can see planes landing from my living room window. Fortunately I can ony hear them if I listen real hard.
Niagara in December
If anyone has been to Niagara Falls in the summer months, you probably end up talking about the Maid of the Mist and all the pageantry and festiveness of the place.
What do you get if you go there in the peak of winter when the place is getting hit by snow storms and wind chill factors of -20 degrees?
Photography Project: Macro Again
Fine it’s not really a “new” project, but this time I am using my Legos. So lets see if what I shot has anything to show for itself. Since I haven’t really finished the lighting for my lightbox, I really don’t know what to use for a background. My tripod is also not full length, so doing stuff on my bar (which has a nice blue background) is also difficult.
