Hyderabad – Kamakaze Pedestrians
Oct 28th
This is an extremely biased review of the city based on the 2 days that I was there. So in the event that you happen to love the city for a reason unfathomable to me, you can save your energy and not hit out against this review because… I just don’t care for your point of view.
Well, actually this is not a review of the city, this is a review of the pedestrians and two-wheeler riders that I have been exposed to. That’s more to the point.
So what sets these guys apart from pedestrians and two-wheeler riders in other cities?

What Americans Should Do
Oct 19th
Here is a little humour that all Americans could use considering the amount of stress that they must be under.
If you had purchased $1000 of shares a year ago in:
- Delta Aitlines, you would have $49 today
- AIG, you would have $33 today
- Lehman Brothers, you would have $0 today
But if you had purchased $1000 of beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in all the cans for recycling, you would have made $214.
Based on the above, the best investment today is to drink heavily and recycle.
A recent study found that the average American walks about 900 miles a year. Another More >
Letters from Iwo Jima
Oct 19th
I finally saw Letters from Iwo Jima yesterday. The movie was extremely well made and the depictions of the time and life of the Japanese was very well done. The conditions on Iwo Jima (from what I have read) were shown well. Ken Watanbe was good as usual. I wonder how Client Eastwood was able to coordinate everything considering that the entire movie is in Japanese!
One thing that struck me as odd was that when ever the Japanese were speaking to a senior officer, they always seemed to be using as extremely scolding tone. Wonder if thats how it is More >
Reading Now – Dune Messiah
Oct 18th
I have now moved onto the 2nd book in the Dune series. The book is called Dune Messiah. The story takes up 12 years after the first book in which Paul Atreides comes back to defeat the Harkonens and the Padisha Emperor to take back Arrakis as his Dukedom.
In the second book Paul Atreides has brought “peace” to the known universe through forming a religion and now everyone is trying to kill him by various means.

Windows 7 to have 20 Editions?
Oct 18th
Microsoft has confirmed that its next version of Windows is actually going to be called Windows 7, dispelling rumours that it is going to be called something fancy. Hopefully this minimalistic approach will also spill over into the operating system as well and they will be able to deliver to us something that is clean and simple and keeps the system up and running and away for the BSOD.
There has also been talks on the number of versions/flavours that will be available for Windows 7. You can find an interesting take on Windows versioning on Boing Boing.
Anyway, I do hope More >
Mumbai to get Wax Museum
Oct 18th
The Municipal Corporation of Mumbai (BMC) has gotten together its plans to start a Wax Museum in the city of Mumbai at the Birla Krida Kendra in the Marine Line area of the city. This ambitious project would occupy a total area of 56000 sq. ft. and will be akin to the famous Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in London. Thats not all, the BMC also plans to construct the Mumbai Eye at Bandstand. Eat that London!
Having said that, I presume that, atleast to start with, the wax artists will be coming in from London. Damn! The Wax Museum will be on More >
